A Call for Peace and Reconstruction of the Cosmos
by Briar
The purpose of this ritual segment is to establish one’s place within both the Cosmos entire and within the ritual space – and to bless both.
In general, one way to understand the purpose of ritual is to re-create the Cosmos as part of Divine purpose. As participants in the Divine, we create as co-create as a matter of our nature, and in ritual we take a conscious and aware part in this process. It may be said, that part of the deeper Mystery is that by performing ritual in this manner we strengthen the Art – the Order that forms the Cosmos – and while this principle applies to the entire ritual, it is particularly obvious in this segment.
The general structure of this process usually involves achnowleging the mythological cosmology structure by honoring it through the Sacred Numbers: The Four Directions, The Three Realms (Land, Sea and Sky), the Two Worlds (World and Otherworld), and the All/the Sacred Center. This may be done in a number of ways, many interesting and creative. What follows is one such, which also includes the traditional Call for Peace.
This segment, as given here, may be used as part of a full Ritual, or as a meditation in its own right.
The following prayer is a loose adaptation from what is known as The Morrighan’s Prophecy, where the Morrighan gives the prophecy of peace after the Tuatha De Danaan victory at the Second Battle of Mag Tuared.
Peace to the East, spring dawn awakens Peace to the South, summer day shining Peace to the West, fall evening twilight Peace to the North, winter’s night stillness
Peace up to heaven Heaven down to earth Earth out to sea
Peace to the World Peace to the Otherworld
Peace be to all
Strength be in each A cup very full Full to overflowing Overflowing with honey
Branch drooping down Drooping with growth Growth in wisdom Wisdom of salmon
Summer in winter Honor enough Woods grown with antler-tips Fire as needed.
<proceed to lighting the Sacred Fire if this prayer is a part of a full Ritual>
