Season’s Greetings
by Wind Dancer

Once again its time to send
Best wishes out to kith and kin
As another year comes to an end
And I look back on where I’ve been.
Once more this Holy Time of year
      Rolls round again. We celebrate
Birth and rebirth with smile and tear
And step off through another gate.
The old year ends, a new one starts
      And we contemplate the change,
      Look ahead with hopeful hearts
      And an urge to rearrange

To fix mistakes and patch the breaks
      That may have come between
Us and folks we love, heart aches
For those we may not have seen
For much too long, the many miles
      That heavy lie between—
So reaching out with hands and smiles
We seek what might have been.
We offer praise to the Prince of Peace
      For the wisdom of His ways;
We pray in turn for sweet surcease
And an end to bleak, dark days.

We rejoice to see the sun start back
      From its long journey south
For thus we know spring is on track,
A sweet word in our mouth!
We light the Yuletide fire and join
With loved ones near and far--
      Share a meal, a drink, a coin
And still follow that wond’rous star.
Love and peace and all good things
Are wished for you and yours
      As midwinter-tide once more brings
      The Promise that e’er endures.
